Earn Your Future Digital Lab: Help Kids Learn How Finance Works

As a rule, kids in low grades perceive money as something mom and dad get from their wallet and ATM machines. Wrong! They must learn the basics of spending, investing, saving and borrowing. This is a huge issue, as school curriculum doesn’t involve comprehensive finance-related courses. This is why Earn Your Future Digital Lab is a brilliant program for students in all grades.

The Earn Your Future Digital Lab is a new interactive app designed to empower kids with financial and economic knowledge. Presented by PwC Charitable Foundation, the comprehensive financial literacy app is designed for students in grades 3-12. It addresses educators and parents’ need to teaching kids important money management skills. A perfect app for helping students understand the financial world beyond their piggy bank!

As an educator with long years of experience, I know how important money management skills are for kids’ future. During these years I worked with many parents who set limits to kid’s wishes and try to explain them how to make wise decisions to become rich. I always advise them to give kids weekly allowance so that they can learn the valuable lessons of saving up and making smart purchasing decisions. Still, not enough. Financial competence is not an easy skill to teach through putting coins in a piggy bank.  They need to understand the concepts of saving, borrowing and spending.

With Earn Your Future Digital Lab, students grasp financial and economic knowledge in a fun and engaging manner. It teaches financial literacy for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. The interactive curriculum is an effective source to teach them life-long financial competence. Students enjoy the learning process since teaching materials are in the form of custom videos, real-world examples and interactive activities.

What I love most about this app is that it explains to students all possible sources of income, the importance of taking risks and the cost of investing. Teaching materials motivate kids to strive for getting their dream job and thinking about obtaining property in the future.

It’s not just about saving and investing. The app introduces the world of stock markets, explains the importance of getting insurance and how interest rates work. No wonder the content is so impactful and relatable. After all, it’s aligned with Council for Economic Educators standards.

Thanks to the app, my students completely realize that wealth is not a result of luck and they can get rich if they work hard.  Parents love it too, as kids understand they cannot get everything they want. Students have a complete picture on how family finances work and how much their parents work to pay the pile of bills every month.

Besides, our young “financers” have a financial glossary and a mortgage calculator at hand. They start counting while considering different ways to make their money grow. A useful challenge!

To sum up, Earn Your Future Digital Lab is the ultimate way to teach kids age-leveled, real world financial literacy.  It’s my greatest honor, to cooperate with PwC Charitable Foundation and invest in the financial stability of our future generation.
