Explore Titanic Giveaway

One of Kleinspiration’s most popular posts this year was from April and centered around my middle school class’ journey through exploring the Titanic.  The post includes some great student work and online tools that were not available at the time my students did their projects.  Today, we are happy to bring to introduce you to another great supplement for teaching the Titanic, including a great giveaway.

Explore Titanica new title from Barron’s Educational Series, reexamines the Titanic’s story, from its 1911 launching at the Belfast shipyard to its tragic destruction on April 15,1912 during its maiden voyage.  Readers will see faithful reproductions of both exterior and interior ship’s details, from the boiler room and engine room far below decks to the luxury passengers’ cabins and the ship’s Grand ballroom.

The book also has an enclosed CD-ROM which lets viewers walk through the ship’s interior from stem to stern, showing hundreds of details.  One can zoom in and out to examine details more closely, and they can move around inside cabin interiors in a way that heightens the illusion of realism.  You can preview the book here.  Filled with beautiful illustrations, Explore Titanic allows the reader to feel as though they are actually on the Titanic, and ask themselves what would they do?

Written by Peter Chrisp, a widely respected British author of children’s books on historical subjects; and illustrated by Somchith Vongprachanh, best known for his computer-rendered 3D modeling, Explore Titanic is certain to become a classroom favorite.  During the month of November, Barron’s has kindly offered to give away a copy of this wonderful book to a handful of lucky Kleinspiration followers.  Please make sure to follow Kleinspiration in order to qualify for November giveaways!  In the meantime, please like Barron’s on Facebook or visit on the web to take a look at some other great educational titles.
