For Educators: 5 Days of Hands-on Learning at #SDEevents This Summer in Vegas!

If you remember, I’ve been strongly determined not to miss any terrific educational event this year. Luckily, SDE is approaching! It hosts a lineup of conferences between July 18 – 22. Teachers and technology enthusiasts will present their insights at the forefront of education and technology.

It is my greatest pleasure to be an SDE consultant. Their workshops are cool, as they never limit sessions to theoretical lectures. Sessions are all about interaction and practical skills. As an educator attending a range of seminars and workshops throughout the year, I must confess there will be no better opportunity for exploring new approaches to exciting and motivating students through technology.

So, let’s power up in Vegas!

I’m truly excited to share my topics for SDE 2016 with my readers:

July 18 Morning Sessions 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM

“Using Station Time to Flip a Lesson”

How can you maximize your teaching time while differentiating your instruction for all students? You flip a lesson! Join me as I’ll share how to use a single iPad® to flip your instruction and free up time to give students the most focused support. If you do Daily 5, centers, or work stations, you’ll love these simple, yet dynamic and creative, teaching ideas!

Morning Sessions 11:00 AM – 12:15 PM

“Tiny Tech Tips for Integrating Informational Writing & Texts’’

We live in an exciting time where our information isn’t solely from thick textbooks, but rather from web sites, blogs, and magazines. Learn how to design an authentic learning experience based on the way today’s students take in information by introducing print rich materials and digital media. I’ll discuss how to integrate your content areas to allow for cross-curricular themes, rather than teach concepts or themes in isolation. Find out how to connect literacy, social studies, and science to engage students at a much higher level.

Afternoon Sessions 1:45 PM – 3:00 PM

“The Tomorrow Toolkit: Cool Tools for Inspiring Creativity & Collaboration in Your Classroom”

Foster collaboration and creativity in your students with simple web tools and resources. I’ll share lesson ideas and demonstrates real examples of inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, and activities in action. Promote higher- order thinking skills in all your students—starting tomorrow.

Afternoon Sessions 3:15 PM – 4:30 PM

“More FUN, Please! Math Centers & Games with a Tech Twist!”

Make learning independent, hands-on, and lots of FUN for your students and watch their mathematical thinking and problem-solving take off! Explore how to add technology to your centers to address multiple learning levels and needs and free up your time for small-group instruction. Discover ready to use games to support the 8 Mathematical Practices AND reinforce your math curriculum. I’ll also offer tips and secrets for creating self-directed learners and designing activities for math practice and remediation.

Events like SDE make me believe that all schools will have motivating 21st century classrooms soon. So, let’s go to Vegas for #SDEevents 2016!
